Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Welcome to our FAQs — here you’ll find some answers to common questions about the Lotus Parenting Approach, our group and individual offerings, and pricing. If you don’t find the answers to your questions here, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We wish you all the best in your mindful parenting journey!

We are so glad you asked this question! We welcome any parent (or parent-to-be!) who would like to embody mindfulness in their interactions with their children, deepen family communication, strengthen bonds within the family, and ultimately, guide their children’s development with discernment and purpose. The Lotus Parenting Approach will be especially useful for parents whose children are 7 years old or younger. We include parents of infants because although children do not actively remember infancy, studies show that they most certainly encode memories then and in fact, their brains develop most rapidly during this time (forming around 1 million neuronal connections per second). So you see, our parenting strategies (and most importantly, how connected and attuned we are to them) carry the most weight in early childhood. Learn more about the Lotus Parenting Approach here or if you like details, check out Dr. Porchet’s essential guide on mindful parenting here.

That depends on what kind of support you are looking for right now. Whether you take the 6-week Lotus Parenting course or sign up for individual 1:1 sessions, you will become familiar with the structured 5-step Lotus Parenting Approach and have ample opportunities to practice these steps with your family. For parents who would like to connect with other parents, hear from their experiences, and also share their own experiences, the group format is especially useful. The course is also best for people who enjoy a didactic approach to learning, as each session includes a dynamic, didactic portion as well as group discussion. For parents who prefer one-on-one interactions and would like to have in-depth discussions with Dr. Porchet, the individual sessions would be most useful. Fortunately, all group participants will get at least one individual 1:1 session with Dr. Porchet before the course begins. And if you find this aspect especially helpful, you can also curate a bespoke program for yourself with the group and additional 1:1 sessions at a discount. We leave it up to you as to what fits your learning style and your family’s needs.

You can find a list of our rates here. Please know, however, that Dr. Porchet does not want cost to be a barrier for any parent that would like to better their family’s daily experience and future. So, please get in touch with us directly if you would like to learn about our sliding scale. We save space for sliding scale participants each cycle, and if we cannot fit you in within the current cycle we will try to do so within the next. And if the sliding scale still won’t work for you, that’s okay! We would be happy to send you reading materials that you can access for free and will refer you to other resources. Your family is important – please do not hesitate to get in touch with us!

Absolutely! Dr. Porchet is happy to keep in touch and hear updates from you after your 6-week course is over, to the extent that she is able. You are also welcome to book follow-up sessions at any point for more in-depth discussions, a mini-refresher course, or to seek support as new issues arise in your parenting journey.

It is important to see an appropriate clinician in your geographical area for medical support if needed for your child. However, we believe the strategies covered in the Lotus Parenting Approach are indeed beneficial for both parents and their children who are adapting to neurodivergence and/or dealing with ongoing health issues.

Your family’s privacy is important to us, and our 1:1 sessions are a safe space for open conversations where parents can feel free of shame and invite grace.
